The organization is established by B. Girish Bharadwaj, a Mechanical Engineering Graduate and had started from a Mechanical core sector of general steel fabrication, job works, installation and repairs of Agricultural implements to fulfill the needs of locality farmers.

Established in 1975, former name was “Rational Engineering Industries” and was renamed as “AYASSHILPA: meaning “Sculpture in steel” during Silver Jubilee Celebration in 2000.

Being an engineering industry in the region, a delegation from the native village Aletty approached the founder Sri Girish Bharadwaj with a request and asking him for a reliable & stable arrangement to cross the river that would connect them to the mainland during the monsoon. Torrential rain during the monsoon cut off the village from the mainland, as streams swelled to impossible levels.  This was when he planned his first Suspension Foot Bridge. The bridge was built by volunteer participation and contribution of Villagers. The usefulness of this bridge got much appreciation and since then there were opportunities for many such bridges and the organization has considered this as a Mission of creating rural connectivity by bridge building. He often says the work is all about “Connecting villages, Connecting Lives and connecting hearts”.

Since then his team has delivered over hundred bridges in Southern states as been serving the needs across the country and subcontinent with its excellence.
